Madelyn Niedzwiecki of Shelburne was the winner of this year’s Lions Club Rocking Horse draw. The ticket was purchased by her grandmother, Brenda Nixon, seen here, who has been purchasing tickets every year since the inaugural draw. Brenda picked up her prize from craftsman, and long time Lions Club member, Jim Cheyne. Jim has been making the beautiful rocking horses for the annual draw for over 22 years. All money raised from this event stays in the community, helping purchase Seniors’ Christmas gifts for Shelburne Residence, contributing to the Jennifer Widbur Hockey Tournament, providing funds for high school bursaries, glasses for needy students and much more. The second prize of a 18 to 20 pound turkey, donated by Lion Murray Sheardown, was won by Maurice Oldfield of Dundalk.
