Meet the Shelburne BIA

April 30, 2015   ·   0 Comments

In partnership with the Town of Shelburne’s Council, local commercial property owners and tenants work together on the Business Improvement Area (BIA) to enhance the safety, look and feel of their neighbourhoods to attract more visitors to shop and dine, as well as to draw new businesses to their area.
The BIA’s president is Jodi Jones chairs the meetings which are held the third Tuesday of every month at 5:30 p.m. for about an hour to discuss and plan events in the downtown core. Jodi encourages all business owners in the downtown core to attend as these meetings as they are aimed at enhancing your business!
Currently the BIA is involved with a number of projects in town such as the July 20th Heritage Day/Classic Car show, the newly located Farmer’s Market which opens May 21st, as well at the annual Santa Clause parade. They are also responsible for the new LED fiddles that light up the downtown core at night, as well as for the beautiful flower baskets and planters that adorn the streets all summer long.
The BIA merchants support local charities, causes, sports teams and events and non-profits receive considerably more support from local business then they do from out of town businesses. When you shop with local merchants, more of your money stays close to home. As well a local business is more likely to be concerned about keeping you happy by providing extremely good customer service.
So next time your thinking of heading out of town to shop, take a good look through the local shops first. Chances are you will find what you are looking for, and you will also help keep BIA business owners “in businesses” and keep our downtown thriving.
For more information on the local BIA please contact Jodi Jones at 519 925-1999 or at jodijones@rogers.com
