Fatal collision on Hwy. 89


On June 24th at 3:40 p.m., the Dufferin Detachment of the OPP were dispatched to a fatal motor vehicle collision on Highway 89, east of Highway 10 near the 1st Line EHS in Mono.
Dufferin EMS and Shelburne Fire Department also responded. The investigation revealed that two vehicles collided head on and two people were found deceased at the scene. One child was taken to local hospital with life threatening injuries. The OPP had Technical Traffic Collision Investigators (TTCI) at the scene to further investigate this collision.
The child taken to hospital by ambulance later succumbed to his injuries and has died. The vehicles involved were a 2012 Honda Accord and a 2000 International dump truck.
Dufferin OPP are identifying the following family members who died in this fatal collision. The driver of the Honda Accord Tina Andersen (43) and her sons Benjamin Parkinson (3) and Gunner Parkinson (6) all of Orangeville, were passengers in the vehicle and all succumbed to their injuries.
The driver of the dump truck was transported to hospital in shock but has since been released. Dufferin OPP are asking anyone who may of witnessed this collision to call police at 1-888-310-1122
