Cubs consistent in game against Clearview

The Mansfield Cubs managed to score at almost every at-bat during Wednesday (July 22) night's game against the Clearview Orioles on the diamond at Mansfield Park.
The Cubs were leading 3–2 in the third period when T.J. Linger hit a single then stole second. They went ahead by two on the next hit that dropped deep into centre field an allowed time for a tag up and run.
The Orioles scored in the fourth inning to make it a 4–3 game, but from the Cubs took over.
Emerson Pendleton led off with a hit to the fence for a double followed up with another long hit from Logan Wallace that brought in a run and took Wallace to second base.
The Cubs scored two more runs in the inning when Brad Caldwell delivered a line-drive past second base that drove in a run.
Clearview had a good fifth inning getting two men on base then scoring on a hit to deep centre field to make it 7–4 and load the bases but they couldn't capitalize the side retired.
Mansfield followed through with two more good innings beginning in the fifth when Rob Kinsley hit to left field for a double and brought in Cubs run number eight.
Tyler Linger followed up with a single with bases loaded for another Cubs run.
T.J. Linger made the catch of the night when he made a diving save on a low hit ball that stopped the Oriole's chances in the sixth inning.
The Cubs wrapped up the game with a good sixth inning when Kinsley hit a hard drive to bring in the final run with bases loaded.
Clearview made an attempt to close the gap in their final at-bat and scored a single but that's all they could do for the night and the Cubs left with a 10–6 win.
The Cubs need a final couple of wins to get the points needed to make it into the playoffs this season and were tied for eighth place at the end of Wednesday's game.
“We scored a run in every inning other than the first inning. That's (Clearview) a good team. We usually don't have a lot of success against them.” Said Cubs coach Jesse Ragazzon. “We needed that game, we're two points out of eighth place. No one made an error in the field. Ty (Linger) was spectacular pitching. You could tell he wanted that game. Our defence was great.”
The North Dufferin League has the top eight teams enter the playoffs so the Cubs need a few points to make the final cut.
They are in the middle of the pack along with the Orangeville Giants, Bolton Dodgers, Midland Indians, and the Creemore Barons – all separated by four points.
New Lowell is still in first place in the League followed by the Aurora Jays and the Clearview Orioles.
