Impaired driver

On Thursday, September 17, at 8:43 p.m., Grey County OPP received a report of a possible impaired driver operating a late model pick-up truck southbound on Hwy. 6 and 10 in Chatsworth.
An officer responding to the call was travelling northbound on Hwy. 10 when the suspect vehicle crossed into the northbound lane forcing the cruiser to the east shoulder of the highway. The officer proceeded after the vehicle which came to a stop on Hwy. 10 and Glendale Airport Road.
The lone driver of the 1994 Chevrolet pick-up truck was found to have been drinking alcohol. Various containers of alcoholic beverages were located within the driving compartment of the vehicle. The driver was arrested for impaired driving and taken to the Chatsworth OPP Detachment for breath tests which indicated he had consumed more than twice the legal limit of alcohol.
Peter Van Vliet, 34, of Orangeville, was charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle. He is scheduled to appear in court in Owen Sound on October 1st.
