Increase in car entries

Over the past month Shelburne Police has had an increase of reports about a suspect or group of suspects rummaging through unlocked cars throughout the town.

The Shelburne Police is encouraging everyone to lock their vehicles at all times. This includes while parked at home, while out shopping, while at work, and even while just quickly running into a convenience store. It is also important to keep any valuables out of sight in the vehicle, including purses, GPS units, cell phones and tools.

Further, if anyone sees any suspicious activity, or hears anything suspicious, they are encouraged to call the police immediately – rather than waiting until the next more to report it, or not reporting it all.

“We work 24/7 and prefer to be notified right away of anything suspicious – regardless if it is in the middle of the day, or the middle of the night. With immediate notification there is a better chance we can prevent a crime for happening, identify the potential suspects, or quickly solve a crime,” said Constable Neumann.

If anyone has any information in relation to this case or any other criminal activity, they are encouraged to contact the Shelburne Police Service at 519-925-3312, or anonymously through Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477), or online at www.crimestopperssdm.com
