Female driver succumbs to injuries

On December 3rd, at 8:19 p.m. Dufferin OPP were dispatched to a personal injury collision on Airport Road south of Hockley Toad in Mono.
Preliminary Investigation reveals that a northbound 2007 Ford Focus four door hatchback for reasons unknown crossed into southbound lane of Airport Road and collided head on with a Tractor Trailer. The driver of Ford Focus was trapped in the vehicle and had to be extricated by Caledon Fire Department. The driver was transported by EMS to Sunnybrook Hospital in Toronto with serious life-threatening injuries.
OPP Technical Traffic Collision investigators attended and processed the scene and the roadway was closed for several hours. Alcohol and distracted driving have been ruled out as cause of this collision. The roadway was bare and dry and visibility clear at time of collision.
On December 11, the female driver succumbed to her injuries and died. Dufferin OPP are now identifying the driver as Elizabeth Farley, 53 years of age of Wasaga Beach. Next of kin have been notified. The driver of the tractor trailer was not injured.
Investigation is continuing and no charges will be laid.
