Atom LL2 Gold Division “A” Finalists

The Shelburne Wolves Atom LL2 team travelled to Wasaga Beach on Dec. 12 to take part in their annually Atom LL one day tournament. Shelburne plays in the Georgian Bay Triangle West Division and the teams they found themselves up against are all currently sitting at the top of the East Division. In Game 1, Wolves played Midland 2 and ended up winning 6–3 with some strong goal tending and offence. In game 2, Wolves played one of the host teams from Wasaga Beach and where once again lead by strong goal tending and good defensive play. With the score being tied till late in the second their offence took over and they ended up winning this game by a 4–1 margin. That put them in the finals against Midland 1 the top team in the East division. In the finale game, the Wolves started off slow found themselves down 3–1 in the third. They didn't give up the fight and scored late making it 3–2 but Midland answered back with another goal to make it 4–2. Shelburne pulled their goalie and scored to make it 4-3 but only had 8 seconds left in the game. They won the face off and got a shot off which the Midland goalie stopped and time ran out. At the awards ceremonies all the kids received a medallion and both coaches complimented the other team on a well played game. The Midland coach said that Shelburne was their stiffest competition so far this year. The Shelburne Wolves Atom LL2 team is currently in first place in league standings with a 13–2–2 record. All of the kids played hard and should be proud of their accomplishment.
