Hospital Auxiliary reaches $750K goal

“We are truly, deeply grateful for their hard work.”
Headwaters Health Care Auxiliary presented an early Christmas gift to the Hospital Thursday, December 10th; a cheque for $750,000 to the Headwaters Health Care Centre Foundation. The presentation took place during the annual Christmas lunch at the Royal Canadian Legion on John Street in Orangeville. This hard earned donation completes the Auxiliary's five-year pledge to raise the funds to go towards the $16 million “Commitment to Care” campaign for the Hospital.
Media contact for the Auxiliary, Christine Hann, told the Free Press, “The previous Auxiliary Chair, Jim Aijala, began our five year pledge and our group really got the momentum going right from the start.” Current Chair, Mike Carter, said Thursday, he was “honoured to present the cheque and acknowledged the team effort of the auxiliary over the past five years.”
With a volunteer force of approximately 240 dedicated individuals, the Headwaters' Health Care Auxiliary operates the hospital's Gift Shop, Coffee Bar, and Information Desk, and assists by escorting patients during their visits to the hospital. The Auxiliary helps to raise funds for the 87 bed health care facility located in Orangeville.
Headwaters hospital offers both inpatient and outpatient services, as well as an Emergency Department. An integral part of the facility, the Auxiliary fund raises for health care equipment through events and activities, including the annual House Tour, Teddy Bear Clinic, Candy Cane Fair, quilt raffles, Gift Shop, Coffee Bar, book exchanges and Seconds Count, the lovely new Hospital thrift store for the Headwaters' Health Care Foundation located on Broadway Street in Orangeville.
The Foundation is the fundraising organization of Headwaters Health Care Centre. It works to raise funds for medical equipment, infrastructure and continuing education for Headwaters Health Care Centre.
Hann is very proud of the group, which she calls “hard working and dedicated individuals” who worked extra hard to raise the final $150,000 needed to complete the full donation early. The media representative for the group also emphasises how lucky the Auxiliary is “to have such a great relationship with the Foundation and Hospital. We feel supported on all fronts and feel our efforts can be seen in our great community focused hospital.”
Joan Burdette, Executive Director of the Headwaters Health Care Foundation says, “The Auxiliary has supported every fundraising initiative ever brought forward for our hospital. Our volunteers are always there when we need them, and we are truly, deeply grateful for their hard work, both within the hospital for patient care, and their fundraising generosity.”
