Annabelle was diagnosed in December with Neuroblastoma which, as per Neuroblastoma Canada, is a cancer of the sympathetic nervous system that predominantly arises in children. It is the third largest pediatric cancer behind leukemia and brain tumours. Between 50 to 75 children a year are diagnosed with neuroblastoma in Canada and, at the time it is found, over 50 per cent of patients have disease which is spread beyond the primary tumour. It is responsible for about 12 to 15 per cent of paediatric cancer deaths and has the lowest survival rate out of all childhood cancers. Neuroblastoma Canada can be found online at www.neuroblastoma.ca and are committed to uniting every Canadian neuroblastoma family through open discussion, online resources and supportive activities. This organization intends to generate worldwide attention and recognition as well as be a major source of information on neuroblastoma. Annabelle and her family were on hand early during the fundraiser and are happy to report that Annabelle is in remission at this time. She will, however, still require follow up appointments down at Sick Kids hospital in Toronto. Event organizers Cheryl Devlin-Blasioli, Tara Blasioli and Lindsay Wegener are elated to have been part of such a wonderful cause bringing together local artisans and vendors, as well being able to have a huge raffle with wonderful prizes that were all generously donated as well as food sales with all money going directly to the Pinkney family. Organizers say they were overwhelmed with the generosity of our community and would like to send special thanks to Pete's Deli and Foodland for their donations which helped to make the event such a success. If you would still like to donate to this family to assist them with the ongoing costs that are not covered by any medical, you can contact the organizers of this event on their Facebook page Fundraiser for Annabelle. --------------------------------------------------- Images: --------------------------------------------------- --------------------------------------------------- Post date: 2016-01-29 18:48:44 Post date GMT: 2016-01-29 23:48:44 Post modified date: 2016-01-29 18:48:44 Post modified date GMT: 2016-01-29 23:48:44 ____________________________________________________________________________________________ Export of Post and Page as text file has been powered by [ Universal Post Manager ] plugin from www.gconverters.com
