MASQUERADE – The School Council and the Playground Committee for Glenbrook Elementary School seen here, have been working to raise money for playground equipment with creative fundraising, including pizza days, candy grams and the biggest fund raiser of the year: the February dance-a-thon.

This year the theme was “Masquerade” as the students hit the dance floor with a goal of raising $12,000.

Funds from the February 12 dance will go to a number of School Council projects including the playground, scientists in the school, artists in the school, library programs and books.

Shelburne’s newest school, Glenbrook is only three years old. The students and Parent Council hope to build an outdoor fenced-in concrete pad and an interactive play area to create an area for physical exercise that will facilitate the arts, science, math and language components of the school curriculum.

Students filled pledge sheets with sponsors and received a ballot for prizes with every $5 they raised. Scotiabank will be matching funds up to $5,000.

An announcement and presentation will take place in the coming days.
