After six games, the Shelburne Junior C Vets are still looking for their first win of the season.

The Vets hosted the Oakville Buzz on Friday night, May 20, at the Centre Dufferin Recreation Complex, but came up short, taking a 12-5 loss.

The game got off to a slow start in the first period with neither team moving the ball much on the floor.

The Vets opened the scoring on a goal from Ty McCallum.

Oakville responded with two fast ones to take an early lead, but Kayden Morley put one past the Oakville goalie to tie it up.

Two more Oakville goals late in the period gave the Buzz a 4-2 advantage going into the second period.

Shelburne’s Cooper Lammie notched one early in the period.

The Buzz finished the frame with four more including two power play goals that left the Vets trailing by five goals with one period remaining.

The Shelburne boys fought back in the third period but were outgunned 4-2 and they had to settle for the 12-5 loss.

Vets third period goals both came from Ty McCallum.

After six games this season the Vets are still trying for that first win and now are in the bottom of the Division – along with Mimico, who are also winless this season.

Wilmot is leading the division with a 5-1 record followed by Six Nations with a 4-1-1 record so far.

Oakville is in third place followed by Branford and Halton Hills.

The Vets will meet Wilmot on Sunday, May 29, in Wilmot for a 3 p.m. game.

They will return to their home arena in Shelburne on Friday, June 3, to host Brantford.

Game time is 8 p.m.
