Cobwebs and Caviar is currently hosting a Kids Can Sew camp with four fun projects over four fun days!

You are never too young to start your training to be the next fashionista!

Cobwebs and Caviar has created a comprehensive program to introduce those ages nine and up to the exciting world of sewing.

This camp will guide them through various projects, and help them develop a strong sewing foundation, while making friends.

This first session of the camp runs from Tuesday August 16 to Friday August 19th with morning and afternoon classes will teach participants how to safely use a sewing machine and sewing equipment, understand sewing terms and directions, how to use a paper pattern to cut out fabric as well as how to make elastic casings, hems, facings, how to pivot and much more!

Cobwebs and Caviar is committed to educating tweens in a safe, relaxed atmosphere where they feel free to express their own style through the art of fashion.

This camp sees no more than five participants per class, so that students receive the one on one instructing to make them confident in their skills.

If you missed the sign up for the first session, don’t worry Cobwebs and Caviar have added a second date from August 23 to August 26 and are hoping to start an after school session in the near future as well.

With a mix of projects, the intent is to encourage creativity and hopefully foster a lifelong love, one project at a time. AJ Cavey owner of Cobwebs and Caviar tells us “Sewing of any kind, whether its clothes, household items, purses or quilts give kids a skill set that will allow them the freedom to be as creative as they want, and it lasts a lifetime.”

Of course, Cobwebs and Caviar have not excluded adults from learning to sew and are offering Learn to Quilt classes starting Wednesday, September 14 from 6.30 to 9 p.m. for six weeks. Weeks One to Three will see two blocks per session being done and in Week Four you will learn sashing and cornerstones.

Week Five will teach border, sandwiching and grid quilting and, in the last week, you will learn binding and handing sleeve construction.

For more information on any of these programs you can pop into the store located at 147 Main Street West, call 519-306-3000 or email cobwebsandcaviar@gmail.com.
