Historic hamlet delivers “Christmas in the Mills”

By Marni Walsh

Once again, the Horning's Mills Community Hall Board will bring their popular craft show to the hamlet.

“Christmas in the Mills” will take place on December 3.

“The event is really about bringing the community together in the spirit of the season,” says Board member Kelly McDowell. “The idea originally was that local residents could come for breakfast-brunch, kids would make a craft, and everyone would be able to shop for Christmas gifts without having to travel to the city.”

There are more than 20 artisans from across Ontario signed up for booths at the event including:

Dawn Brook Lavender

The Quilting Nook

Not So Hollow Farm

Jade's Junkyard Jems

Landman Bakery

Jennifer Weaver's “Reptilian Bling”

Unique Antiques

Jeri's Candles & Bee Products

Jenn Jansen Soaps and Scrubs

Cherri's Candles and Oil

Wee Three Goats

Round the Bend Preserves

Sew Yarn-tastic

Local Soup Girl

Willie Platter's Lamb Skins

Camille's Creative Creations

Marnie Neal

Shine Baking Co.

The market, now in its fourth year, has picked up a great following with the word spreading on social media enticing friends to come to the event, says Ms. McDowell, especially since dads and kids can enjoy food and crafts downstairs while mom and her friends head upstairs to shop, making it a fun outing for the whole family.

As in previous years, there will be a raffle for guests to enter for the chance to win a gift basket of goods donated by the artisans attending the event.

“Last year the donations were so abundant,” says Ms. McDowell, “We were able have three draw prize baskets full of beautiful gifts.”

There will also be an artisan gingerbread house up for raffle.

All vendor applicants must be selling hand-crafted items at the event.

The market and cafe will be open December 3, 2016 from 9am-2pm.
