By Brian Lockhart

The Centre Dufferin District High School Royals boys' hockey team are now in the middle of the pack in the District standings after taking a midweek loss to the Orangeville District Secondary School Bears.

The afternoon game got underway on Tuesday, November 22, at the Centre Dufferin Recreation Complex with a 2:00 p.m. start.

After a period of back and forth action, the Royals gave up a goal late in the period with 2:49 left on the clock.

The Royals were trailing by two goals when Orangeville notched another one in the second frame.

After taking a break the squads returned to newly surfaced ice for the final period.

The Bears scored 23 seconds into the period to put all the pressure on the CDDHS team to get back into the game.

Time ran out before the Royals could light up the scoreboard and they had to settle for a 3-0 loss to the Bears.

The loss leaves the Royals in fifth place in the standings in the ten team line-up with a 2-2 record.

The Royals started off the season with a 5-4 win over Erin District Secondary School on November 8, then followed up with their second win of the season on November 15, with a 5-4 win over Centennial Collegiate.

Centre Wellington District High School is currently leading the league going undefeated after four games.

ODSS is in second place with a 3-0 record.

They are followed by Erin District who are 2-2 including an overtime loss.

Orangeville's Westside Secondary School is in fourth place with a 2-0 record.

The Royals will play three games on the road before returning to the CDRC on Tuesday, January 10, to host ODSS.

Game time is 2:00 p.m.
