“May the best window win!” says AJ Cavey owner of Cobwebs & Caviar on Main Street Shelburne, and last year’s winner of the Business Improvement Area store front holiday contest.

Windows all over Shelburne will be sparkling with holiday spirit by this weekend, ready for the annual contest.

Cobwebs & Caviar window displays are a source of pride and salesmanship for us,” says Ms. Cavey. “We love to show off new goodies or fashions and customers often come in to say they look forward to seeing each change. We love our town and truly try our best to move with the spirit of creating a fun and vibrant downtown.

“This year we have our ‘Get Stuffed’ event happening on December 9 at Cobwebs & Caviar from 2 pm – 9 pm [with] door prizes, food sampling, specials and refreshments. And we will infuse you with Christmas spirit, leaving with your gifts wrapped and your list shorter without losing your wallet!”

Shelburne businesses throughout the Town will be decorating their storefronts in time for the Santa Claus Parade on Saturday, December 3, around the parade theme “I’ll Be Home for Christmas.”

“This song evokes so much for so many, for both its nostalgia and its contemporary application to our hectic ‘hamster-on-a-wheel’ lives,” says AJ. “It can make us sad with memories or happy remembering, and for those in the military, I am sure it is most poignant of all.”

“For me, coming home is a Rockwellian scene,” she adds, harkening back to the iconic art of Norman Rockwell. “Setting the stage with a lit tree, cozy clothes, wrapped gifts and a nod to the military; I think our window says it all. As last year’s winner of Best Window, I encourage all my enthusiastic BIA members to embrace the theme and the spirit of the contest.”

Join Santa and his elves at 2:30 on December 3 as they walk through downtown and judge the best decorated store front.

A prize will be given for the top three best displays.

Everyone is encouraged to walk with Santa to help him pick the winners.

Follow Santa to Jack Downing Park for photos, music and a reading of ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas at 3 pm and a free sleigh ride around town before the Santa Claus Parade down Main Street at 5 pm.
