Troupe-Adore Chorale and group members are busy preparing for “Christmas in the Park” on December 17.

The group is hosting the free public event as “a festive thank you to the community for their support over the past year,” says Troupe leader Sohayla Smith.

“The inspiration behind the Christmas chorale in the Park stems from the old fashioned tradition of carolling,” says Ms. Smith. “We wanted to find a way to draw people out of their homes to gather as a community for an evening of song and fellowship, sharing food and warm beverages together in our town’s quaint, but cozy Jack Downing Park.”

The free event takes place from 5 – 7 p.m. on December 17, with community carol singing led by the Troupe-Adore Chorale group.

The Chorale has been rehearsing for months and there will also be a youth chorale of small children who begin rehearsal this week. www.troupeadore.com.

Jack Downing Park will be festively decorated for the event and Christmas goodies, warm beverages and candy canes will be handed out by Santa and his elves.

“Christmas in the Park” will be a night for children and parents to experience the simple joys of family and holiday spirit.

“Society seems to focus so much these days on holiday consumerism, our hope is to change that just for a few hours – to bring people together for nothing more than togetherness,” says Sohayla Smith.

There will be guest soloists from both the community and out of town, including soprano Darcey Baker, singer-songwriter James McLaughlin, and many local youth and children.

Currently, Troupe-Adore, which is a non-profit volunteer group is approaching local grocers and hardware stores for donations towards the community snacks and beverages, as well as additional decorative lighting.  “We really hope to bring the community out to celebrate together, and hopefully rekindle the passion for this type of classic tradition,” says Ms. Smith.

Join Troupe-Adore for “Christmas in the Park,” on Saturday, December 17, from 5-7pm at Jack Downing Park beside IDA Drug Store in Shelburne. To contact the group about donations or assisting with the event, or if you have children who would like to participate in the singing go to www.troupeadore.com.
