Stuff a Cruiser: Shelburne cops help out at Christmas

By Michelle Janzen

Shelburne Police are running their annual Stuff-a-Cruiser donation campaign and are asking for the community's support to collect children's toys.

Donors can bring a new, unwrapped toy or non-perishable food items to fill the police cruiser.

The first Stuff a Cruiser event was held on December 3 in the Foodland parking lot and, of particular note, this year Giant Tiger donated through their “Angel Tree Fundraiser”, which saw $2,700 raised.

Of that, $1,700 in toys and gifts went to Stuff a Cruiser and the remaining $1,000 was sent to the Shelburne & District Firefighters Association who are also holding their Annual Toy and Non-Perishable food drive.

Andrew Lewis, owner of Giant Tiger, expressed his “thanks to of all their customers for helping in this worthy community fundraiser.”

Stuff a cruiser is being held again on Saturday, December 17, at No Frills Shelburne located at 101 Second Line from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.

However, if you are not able to make it to the event, the Shelburne Police tell us that donations can also be dropped off until December 20 at the Shelburne Police Station, located at 203 Main Street East.

Donations from this campaign will be distributed throughout the community by the Salvation Army and Dufferin Child and Family Services ensuring there will be something under the tree for the community's less-fortunate children this Christmas.
