Santa Claus Parade spreads Christmas cheer Downtown

This year’s Santa Claus parade was proceeded by festivities and the chance to get up close and personal with Santa to make sure he knew exactly what you are hoping to find under the tree on Christmas morning.

Many families took park in the pre-parade festivities that included musical performances by Troupe Adore, a campfire where you could make s’mores (mmm…my favorite), enjoy some hot chocolate and, of course, sit on Santa’s lap and have a free picture with the man himself, provided by Royal LePage.

Excitement and anticipation could be felt in the air, with local spectators and those from surrounding communities, and visitors alike, lining the streets of the parade route.

With well, over 50 entries lighting up the night, they slowly made their way through the streets of downtown Shelburne.

The creative floats, costumed walkers, music, marching bands and all those lights made getting into the Christmas spirit easy.

Santa was of course, was the grand finale.

”This was an amazing Christmas event and I would like to give a huge thank you to Jennifer Crewson, my partner on the committee,” organizer Jodi Jones, of Being in Balance, tells the Shelburne Free Press. “We would also like to thank Larry’s Small Engine Repair for their $500 donation, Tim Hortons Shelburne for the hot chocolate, Foodland Shelburne for the s’mores, the Town of Shelburne for all of their support and, of course, to Santa and his elves.”

“Certainly, without the support, help and participation of the public, whether as a volunteer, as a participant or as a spectator, this major community event would not be possible,” said Jones.

From all of us on the 2016 parade organizing committee we would like to wish you and your families a very safe and happy holiday season and the best for 2017. We look forward to seeing you at next year’s Annual Shelburne Santa Claus Parade.
