The Shelburne Muskies lost 4-3 to the Ripley Wolves on Saturday night, December 10, at the Centre Dufferin Recreation Complex, after tying the game in the third period and forcing the game into overtime.

The loss was the second one of the Muskies in as many days after coming up short the previous night taking a 4-2 loss to the Mapleton-Minto 81’s.

It’s a minor setback for the squad who won their previous three games.

Shelburne’s Santino Diflorio got the opening late in the first period.

Ripley tied it up early in the second period then got the go ahead goal four minutes later.

Trevor Vanalstine tied the game on a powerplay effort at the midway mark.

Kris Dobinson scored for the Muskies after taking the feed from Nick Hodgson in the third period.

The game went into overtime to decide the winner with the Wolves getting the winner at 37 seconds into the overtime period.

The squad had a good previous week, winning three in a row to get some momentum going.

“The team has been playing really well,” said Muskies GM Barry Trood. “We’ve probably got one of our best line-ups going on right now. We’ve got one new defenceman. We picked him up two weeks ago. We’ve got a couple of scratches tonight, but they’re healthy scratches. The guys have to work hard to get in the line-up. They’re all buying into coach Dave Ritchie’s game plan. We want to make some slow and steady progress as we go through the year.”

The Muskies will return to home ice at the CDRC this Saturday night, December 17, when they will host the Shallow Lake Crushers.

Game time is 8:00 p.m.
