We will host Al Pace and Lin Ward at our Library Literary Event on Sunday, March 5, 2017.

This will be a very engaging presentation for anyone interested in the outdoors, wildlife, canoes and so much more. The Presentation is a tie-in to our One Book One County Reads selection, Canoe Country by Roy McGregor.

Tickets are free and will be available at YOUR library.

Walk the Wall Challenge

Congratulations, Steppers! We’ve taken 2.65 million steps as a group. This means we have walked the sections of the Great Wall currently open to the public about 10 times, but the wall as a whole is MUCH larger. We’ve completed 2,118km out of 21,196km, with plenty of time to go! Let’s keep up the great work!

Blind Date with a Book

Blind Date with a Book 2017 launched on Thursday, January 26! Not sure what to read next? Tired of the genre you normally read? This is a great chance to try a book without judging the cover. Just come in, read the hints on your “date’s” packaging, and sign it out without knowing the title!

Children’s Programs

The Teddy Bear sleep-over at Story Time on Friday, January 27, was great. There were some bears who had a sleepover at the Library; However, a few of the bears decided they would rather go home with their owners. The bears that stayed received a certificate and a balloon for participating.

Story Time this Friday at 10:30 a.m.  is about Gregory the groundhog.

The Paws to Read program for this week is filled up. If you would like to participate next week, give us a call. It is held every Wednesday from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. This is a wonderful program for children who would like to practice their reading.

Mac, the therapeutic poodle loves to listen to children read to him, so don’t miss out. Make an appointment today.

LEGO CLUB is very busy on Wednesday after school at 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. This week we are creating dinosaurs.

The Super Readers Club is looking for more children to participate. This program runs for 6 weeks; it is for JK to Grade 6. Come in every week, pick out some books to read. Read a certain number of books, participate in an activity and have your name in for a draw.

There is a different theme each week.

Drop in to see us, or phone 519-925-2168 for more information on all these programs.

Teen Scene

Writer’s Café was abuzz with lots of creativity and discussions last week. By request, several story starters were provided to work on, and then the group composed a story together using the round-robin method! We look forward to meeting again this Tuesday, January 31, from 3.30-4.30 p.m., where members can work on their own creative writing, use our story starters and ideas, or even study.

There will be no Teen Scene meeting this Thursday, but here’s a look at what’s coming in February:

February 6, 14, 21, 28 – Writer’s Café. 3.30 – 4.30 p.m.

February 9 – White Pine Launch Party. Open to Grades 9 – 12. 6 – 7 p.m.

February 16- Alternative Valentine’s Day Social. This is not your average Valentine’s gathering. Look forward to cupcake decorating, games, and a craft. There just might even be a prize. 6 – 7 p.m.

February 23 – Pizza & Pages Book Club Meeting. 6 – 7 p.m.
