Wolves host Honeywood in Midget battle

With only a couple of games left on the regular season schedule, the Shelburne Wolves and Honeywood Hurricanes Midget LL1 teams battled it out at the Centre Dufferin Recreation Complex on Monday, January 30.

The Wolves opened the scoring in the first period on a goal from Jacob Berardi.

The Hurricanes tied it up one minute later on a goal from Honeywood forward Brandon Anthony.

It was his first of four goals for the game.

Anthony took a pass across the net and picked of the corner to give the Hurricanes a 2-1 lead.

Keeping the pressure on the Wolves, the Hurricanes took the play to the Shelburne end and Anthony picked up his third and fourth goals of the game to give the Hurricanes a 4-1 lead in the second period.

The Wolves scored right off the face-off late in the second period when Jacbo Berardi got his second of the game taking the shot from the point to score.

The Hurricanes killed of a penalty to start third period then put the pressure in the Wolves end to score when Alex Peyton charged down the right side of the net and took the shot.

Peyton got the hat trick with two more goals in the final frame.

Shelburne's Liam McLeod got the final Wolves goal with 6:31 left on the clock.

The Hurricanes wrapped it up with a final goal from Cole Timmims when a wild scramble in front of the net caught the Wolves goalie out of position and Timmins took the shot to the open sided.

The final was an 8-3 win for the Hurricanes.

The Midgets LL have one more game on the regular season schedule before heading into the playoffs.
