Walk in Clinic opens Monday

By Michelle Janzen

Sanjay Lekhi, owner of Shelburne Town Pharmacy, is happy to announce the Good Doctors Walk-In Clinic will be open this Monday May 15th.

In March of this year, Lekhi told the Shelburne Free Press, “With no walk in clinic in Shelburne and the population growing it seemed like the right time to take this step for the community.”

This clinic will be a little different then your traditional walk in clinic, as it won't have any doctors on site. At the clinic, Registered Practical Nurse Abby Stewart, will be on-site to take patient's "chief medical complaints" before they are assessed by a doctor via video conferencing.

Telemedicine is an alternative to traditional face-to-face consultations, where physicians use video conferencing to monitor the health of patients.

Good Doctors Medical Inc. was created by Leo Liao when he was in a remote town which didn't have access to regular health care.

“This allows us to bridge gaps in the health care system and deliver care to more patients when and where they need it,” says Liao.

A visit to the Good Doctors Medical Clinic will be unlike any other.

You will be greeted by a receptionist who will make you fill out the required paperwork.

Next, you will be seen by Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) Abby Stewart followed by online consultation with one of the doctors on call via video conferencing. If you require a prescription or referral to a specialist, the doctor will send it to the clinic, where it will be printed out and you have the option of filling it at the pharmacy of your choosing.
