It didn’t take the Mansfield Cubs peewee team long to start scoring in their Friday (June 22) night game against the Bradford Storm on the diamond in Mansfield.

The Cubs went ahead by four in the first period when Tristan Brindley hit to deep centre and made it all the way around the bases for an in-the-park grand slam home run.

They kept up the pressure and scored another run to end the inning on the ‘five run’ mercy rule that is in place in the League.

The Cubs returned for the second inning soon found men moving into scoring position when Jackson Cliche stole second base to put men on second and third.

With the bases loaded the Cubs scored three runs on walks, then finished the inning with a double from Dylan Scott that brought in two more runs.

Going into the third inning Patrick Baird lead off the hitting with single.

The bases were again loaded when the Cubs got a couple of hits and walk to fill up the diamond.

Dylan Scott got his second double of the game to drive a run and end the inning.

The game ended with a 15-1 win for the Cubs.

The Cubs will now have a couple of road games travelling to Tottenham and Innisfil.

They will return to their home diamond on Friday, July 6, to host Alliston.

Game time is 6:30 p.m.
