The Mansfields Sr Cubs started off with a hot game in their Wednesday night match-up against the Lisle Astros leading 5-2 in the second inning, but the game turned around when the Astros got the bats moving in the later innings.

Lisle’s Travis Hall hit a single run home run over the left field fence.

That was followed up by a three-run home run from Nathan Lennox that placed the Astros in front with a one run lead in the third inning.

Emerson Pendleton started off with a single in the third for Manfield. They advanced men to second and third when Logan Wallace stole second base but the side retired before they could score.

The Astros went ahead on another single run homer in the fourth inning.

The Cubs were back on base in the fourth when a hit to deep centre field for a double set things up but they couldn’t finish and the side retired

From there the Cubs just couldn’t score and the Astros kept bringing in the runs to finis the game with a 13-5 win.

After this game the Cubs have a 4-15-1 record for the season.

The Bolton Brewers are leading the league with a 16-2-2 record. They are followed by the Ivy Leafs in second place with a 16-1 record and the New Lowell Knights with a 13-2-1 record so far for the year.

The Cubs will be back on the diamond in Mansfield on Wednesday, July 11, when they will host the New Lowell Knights.

The first pitch is scheduled for 6:30 p.m.
