Fegan: We need to focus on our youth over this next term of council

CANDIDATE: KYLE FEGAN

RUNNING FOR: COUNCILLOR

As most of you know by now my name is Kyle Fegan. I’ve been a resident of this town for the last 10 years, and in that time have become very involved. I’ve been part of the Street Festival committee, the Canada Day Committee, helped with the Heritage Festival, helped with the Heritage Day Parade, and designed the banners for our Hometown Heroes initiative. I’ve also been very active using my contacts to bring in up & coming bands to put on events like the concert at the Legion to raise funds for the pole barn out at Fiddle Park. I volunteer my time and experience in Marketing where I can either creating ads, logos or signs that are displayed throughout this town and it’s events all year.

I operate 2 business in town, Impact Kreative is an advertising/Design agency that’s been in operation for past 12 years. This year I opened Impact Martial Arts, a Judo dojo based in the TrainerGames Fitness Centre.

I’m pleased to see that all of the candidates have all talked about improving our Commercial and Industrial sectors just to keep pace with our growing population, and I’m pleased to see that we all see this as a priority and I feel confident that whoever you vote in as your council will all work well together to this end.

One thing that I feel needs a real focus is our youth. As a father of 3 young boys and the head instructor of the judo dojo, I really feel it’s important we start looking at creating more programs to get our youth engaged. We need mentorship programs, entrepreneurial programs, as well as sports and the arts.

Fiddle Park of course has been a very popular topic of late. I feel to protect Fiddle Park it needs to be used more regularly. Not only do I want to see the park used more, but I’m already right now planning more events to make that happen. It should also be a priority of our next council to ensure that the potential sale of this land cannot come back around again, and needs to ensure we lable that land as permanent green space to protect it.

In regards to a By-Pass. This has been focus for many councils before this next one that will be formed. This is a battle with MTO that has gone on for a very long time… and is certainly not something that I’m interested in letting up on personally. The By-Pass is very much needed and I do intend to continue the conversation with the MTO and will certainly continue to push for approval from them to make this happen.

I love this town, and am very Happy to call it home. I give as much of myself as I can for it, and hopefully with your support, I intend to continue to offer of myself, as your councilor who will be available and accountable to you.

Sincerely

Kyle Fegan
