Scott Woods bringing ‘Old Time Christmas’ to Shelburne

Written By MARNI WALSH

On December 12th, Scott Woods and his band will perform Old Time Christmas at Grace Tipling Hall in Shelburne. The show is a Shelburne Rotary Club sponsored charitable event and proceeds will go to support causes that serve Shelburne and the local community.

Chairperson Bobbi Ferguson says the Shelburne Rotary Club is very happy to be partnering with Scott Woods for his Christmas show. “We feel it's important to promote our fiddle heritage throughout the year and there's no one better than Scott Woods to do just that. He is fiddle royalty in Shelburne, and assures us that the concert will be Old Time Fiddle style and 100% Christmas…well...he might throw in an Orange Blossom Special.”

The Scott Woods Band has spent many years travelling the country to help local organizations raise thousands of dollars for their community. The band creates two new shows a year to keep their performances new and fresh for repeat audiences like Shelburne.

This year's show is billed as “A masterful two hour presentation of seasonal songs, inspirational stories, and lots of family fun that will open your heart to the joy of the Christmas spirit.”

Scott Woods has captured all major Canadian Fiddle titles, including Canadian Open Fiddle Champion, Canadian Grand Masters' Fiddling Champion, and Canadian Fiddle Entertainer of the Year. He was Musical Director, and played Don Messer, in Memories of Don Messer's Jubilee touring tribute show, and he has recorded several CD's. He is beyond a doubt, a world class musician who has performed both across North America and internationally.

“Scott Woods has been a mainstay at the Old Time Canadian Open Fiddle Championship in Shelburne, and has always been a supporter of the Shelburne Rotary Club,” says Bobbi Ferguson. “Recently, he stepped up and consulted with the Heritage Music Festival Committee to insure the future of the Fiddle Championship.
