Come celebrate (almost) Canada Day

June 27, 2013   ·   0 Comments

It was a very warm morning indeed, we are so grateful for this wonderful Shelburne Library facility to meet in with great working A/C, praise the Lord. Pastor Don welcomed everyone with his friendly smile, began with prayer and shared announcements. Worship was cheerful and heartfelt. After releasing the children to Sunday school, Pastor Don asked, “Have you ever gone through tough times, like financial stress, job loss or the loss of a loved one, a broken relationship, maybe all of the above?” Let’s read John 14:1-6; “Don’t let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God, and trust also in me.  There is more than enough room in my Father’s home. If this were not so, would I have told you that I am going to prepare a place for you? When everything is ready, I will come and get you, so that you will always be with me where I am.  And you know the way to where I am going.”  “No, we don’t know, Lord,” Thomas said. “We have no idea where you are going, so how can we know the way?” Jesus told him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me.

This is a very familiar scripture and it reaches down to every troubled heart. It encourages us to trust in someone able to care for us and comfort us. Life is unpredictable but Jesus is dependable, one moment all is great and the next everything can be falling apart. When Jesus spoke those words He foreknew what His disciples were about to go through and He wanted to give them peaceful assurance of His presence, (John 12:13, John 13:26-27, 13:38). He genuinely cared for them and said,” I have told you all this so that you may have peace in me. Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world.”(John 16:33) He wants us to trust in His presence, His promises and in God even when we don’t see Him. It requires faith to believe in someone we cannot see, and through that faith we are blessed,(John 20:24-25, John:20:29). We have many proofs of Jesus’ presence; we undeniably feel His presence because His Spirit lives in us. Scripture also gives us many promises that He is always with us and will never forsake us, (Deuteronomy 31:8).

We can believe every promise of God because those He has made to Israel have come true,” You gave the people of Israel this land that you had promised their ancestors long before—a land flowing with milk and honey,”(Jeremiah 32:22).God promised a Messiah and it was fulfilled in Jesus Christ,(Isaiah 7:14). He promises to us even now that He will come to take us home for we are His, (John 14:4-6); we will be as we were always meant to be, we will spend eternity with Him, but the most wonderful of all this is our being at home with Him is not only for the future, we can be at home with Him right now by receiving Him as Lord and Savior and we will experience peace even through troubled times.

Beloved If you are feeling lost, weak or weary Jesus said He is the way the truth and the Life; the way to God the Father, the truth to the reality of God and the life that joins us to His divine life both now and forevermore, call out to Him today and experience His peace….Asherey Shalom!
