Student: Tristan Adontang

Placement: Metz Homes

This week Tristan Adonteng  from Centre Dufferin District High School shares a little bit about his experience and how Metz Homes is contributing to our community’s future.

Metz Homes renovates and builds custom homes and community commercial buildings in and around Dufferin County. They are a small company and believe they can offer students and clients a more personalized work and building experience.

The services that they provide are building new homes from the ground up using many of the newest techniques and products in the building industry today. They also specialize in renovating and repairing homes and light commercial buildings and building decks.

They are a nice group of people who have helped me to learn about carpentry. Some of my daily duties working here are measuring, moving equipment, and cleaning up. I have prepared the ground for concrete, insulated walls and general carpentry tasks.

I have used some equipment in carpentry such as nail guns, hand saws, a tape measure, claw hammer, and spirit levels.

Some of the jobs that are associated with this placement could be a roofing contractor an insulator, an electrical and a plumber.

Metz Homes is a large contributor to the Shelburne community. Not only do they build a quality home for people they also are a curling club volunteer and ad sponsor, they have been involved in minor hockey , minor baseball, and minor lacrosse. Dave was instrumental in starting a boys varsity high school baseball team and we have since seen the baseball  diamonds in Shelburne completely redone providing an excellent space for future ball players.
