Atom Wolves host season opener

The Shelburne Wolves Atom LL2 Team recently hosted its season opener against its hometown rival, the Atom LL1 team.

The game was the team's first time together on the ice this year, but the Wolves gave it their all, battling to a 3–3 tie.

Officials stated each player's drive for teamwork was evident throughout the game.

The first LL2 goal was scored by Griffen Ladner, assisted by Max Dempster and Maya Newmaster.

Ladner then scored again, assisted by Marcus Carvalho.  The third goal of game was scored by Cooper Carvey, assisted by Carvalho and Dempster.

TJ Wilson-Daponte held the opposing team to three goals. Officials say the hard work of the LL2 team's defence and forwards; Andrew Bruce, Brandon Casey, Kaleb Martin, Bradley Richards, Alex Roper, Taylor Pate and Liam Young, didn't go unnoticed.

On Saturday, October 26, the Wolves won their first game of season 5–3. Andrew Bruce scored with one and Copper Carvey topped it up scoring 4 goals and earning a well-deserved Player of the Game.  Assists went to Ladner, Brandon Casey, Kaleb Martin, Liam Young and Taylor Pate, all with one a piece and to Maya Newmaster with two.

Shelburne returned to Collingwood on Sunday, losing 6–3, Player of Game Griffen Ladner, scoring all 3 goals, unassisted.

Way to go Wolves on a great start to the 2013/14 Season.

A special thank you to our team sponsors, Shelburne Free Press and Caravaggio IDA Drugs.
