Joy always fills our hearts when we come into God’s presence. We worship in spirit and truth when the Lord meets with us. Bob lead beautiful choruses and our hearts were humbled to receive God’s message. Pastor Don began with sharing announcements and prayer requests; we praise God for keeping many safe and sheltered this weekend. As many were stranded due to Friday’s storm, the  emergency shelters set up in local arenas were a great blessings. We continue to pray for families  during this difficult season, may God bring comfort and healing. Then Pastor Don Prayed over the service asking God to teach us and humble us.

We began our year with this resolution; “ To Grow in a closer relationship with Jesus Christ in 2014God will help us achieve it if we trust Him,(Proverbs 3:1-10). King Solomon wrote this to his son, and we can definitely feel the importance of “Trusting God”. In vs 1 He stresses not to forget his teaching and to obey, vs 2 he states the results of following those instructions, a long good life, obviously it doesn’t mean life will not have its share of troubles but obedience to God will certainly guide us through them. Now in vs 3 he speaks of loyalty and kindness as characteristics so valuable that they should be nurtured deep in our hearts and mind so that they are naturally displayed by our actions. Our actions should match our words just as Jonathan showed his loyalty towards David. Although it was Jonathan’s birthright to be King after his father, he was loyal even after he knew that God had chosen David to be king over Israel,(1 Samuel 18:1-4). Back to Proverbs 3, vs 5 instructs us to trust God with all our being and to not rely on our own ideas or reasoning, trusting God is secure. This does not signify leaving sound rational thinking or judgement but these should align with God’s wisdom. When we consult God, listen to Him and follow through with his guidance it shows that we trust Him.

In vs 6 to 10 we find a promise that when we seek God’s will he will show us the way and give us success. A great example of this is when King David sought God before fighting the giant, David trusted and obeyed and the Giant was defeated with a sling, 3 stones and a whole lot of faith, (1 Samuel 17:45-47). Other depictions of trust are all over the Bible from Noah to Joshua to the Apostle Paul,(Genesis 6:22,1Kings 3:10-12, Hebrews 13:5-6).  It is our desire here at Crossroads, to see many from our community come to trust God and seek to know Him and gain wisdom from His guidance because we know the blessings of a growing relationship with Jesus.

When we take a close look at this 3rd Proverbs we can deduct that God’s instructions are all inclusive, we are to seek Him in all things, please Him in all things and give Him all things, not just what we want, or when we feel like it or just our leftovers. After all God freely gives all things to us, we should have the same attitude towards Him. That is the best attitude to be a good steward of the Gifts He gives us.

God is Trustworthy and entrusts us with much, and He promises to provide for us and care for us and if God promises it then we ought to trust it. Even in our most difficult times God will be there to teach us to go through them.

Beloved in these situations we can be like the Psalmist and praise the Lord because He understands whatever it is we are living through, (Psalms 56:4). If we allow ourselves to be vulnerable and confide in Him, if we Trust him, he will help us and He will make our lives radiate like the dawn, and the justice of our cause will shine like the noonday sun. He can do this just as He did for so many during His time on Earth, He does it for anyone who trusts and believes, (Mark 9:23, 24). We should also trust Him because of His great love for us so we should not take Him for granted or become complacent. We should always seek to please Him, joyfully serve Him and trust Him just as He trusts us. This week beloved whatever it is that you are going through, whether good or bad seek the Lord, praise Him for the good and trust him with the bad, Be still in the presence of the Lord, and wait patiently for him to act. He will not fail to be by your side, Asherey Shalom!
