Alright, enough winter already! Friday night was horrendous as we all know and Saturday, we were closed knowing it was just too dangerous for anyone to be out. On Monday, those of our staff who live in town or me who could walk out and be picked up, persevered and kept the library open. We were open till 2 p.m., celebrating Family Literacy Day as promised, with hot chocolate and we did have quite a few patrons in.

Lego Club –

What a fun time last Wednesday was as we welcomed 24 youngsters to our first Lego Club! We had healthy snacks and then the big surprise was letting them open all the bags and boxes. It really was like Christmas; many oohs and aahs and a great deal of excitement for sure. Grace, our student assistant who is coordinating the program introduced the activities and programs for the coming weeks. The first week’s theme was transportation. She also had coloring sheets and board games and puzzle challenges for them. We also mentioned there were only 2 rules… have fun and share! And share they did. It was most impressive how small groups sorted out to build different items and worked so well together. All in all at the end of the time, we realized how much fun the youngsters had and we did too.

March Break Activities:

We have our March Break activities lined up but you will need to wait a little while before we have tickets and more information ready. We have Robin Hood this year as the Theatre Production, Creature Quest as our “animal show” and Erick Traplin, a musical performer. We will have lots of other in-library activities for our youngsters. So stay tuned as they say!
