Shelburne Library news

February 26, 2014   ·   0 Comments

More and more new books are arriving as we start looking at and ordering the spring selections. We will publish a list of new large print and talking books over the next while. The Shelburne Residence Bid Euchre folks have very generously donated their funds to support us in developing these latest LP and TB selections. We are very appreciative of their support as it gives us more resources to provide materials for our seniors and especially the Outreach programs.

This week’s Lego program focused on the theme of Dream Houses. You can see all the creations on display behind the circulation desk as we do have them there for the week till we start all over with a new theme. So far we have had Fantasy, transportation as our themes. The great aspect of this program is how well the children work together and cooperate in building their new creations. Because of the large number of children attending, we find that we are soon going to have to add to our collection of Lego so if anyone has some blocks that need a good home, we would really appreciate them.

Centre Dufferin Recreation Complex – Saturday February 22: Saturday morning, Jeanne Cruikshank, our Children’s Librarian and I went up to the CDRC to join all the other clubs and organizations providing programs for our youngsters. It really was fun as we met so many of the children and parents that we see in the library on a regular basis. It was also a good opportunity to chat with folks new to town and tell and then about our library programs.

Our main focus was to spread the word about our fantastic March Break programs – 3 professional shows for $8. The tickets are really starting to sell and we realize most folks are just finalizing their plans but do consider what the library and town are offering.

The special surprise we had was receiving a lovely bunch of roses and baby’s breath. Thank you, Kinettes for your Random Act of Kindness. It really brightened our day.
