Shelburne Library news

A sunny day today lulls us into actually thinking spring is here… except that  the weather reports are already alerting us to another storm on the way. So stock up on books and make sure you have lots to read. We have another shipment of new ones coming in later this week so check out that New Books section on our Home page.

• Dufferin Reads: One Book One County: As an added feature leading up to our Grand Finale on May 13th with Robert J. Sawyer, his editor, Adrienne Kerr of Penguin Books Canada,   will be talking to aspiring writers and anyone else interested in what goes on behind the scenes before a book is published. She will be at Orangeville Public Library on Wed. April 9, at 7pm. You were fascinated with Robert when he was here for the launch, so if you are curious about the need for editing, this is the session for you. Please register with Orangeville, Grand Valley or Shelburne Public Library or BookLore

• Focus on Seniors: We just received some great new LP books and some more new CNIB Talking Books.  Anne Crowder has just finished delivering a wonderful selection to three of the seniors on our Home Outreach program. We have 12 patrons enjoying this program and could serve a few more. We do our best to select the books and magazines YOU will enjoy. Please call us if you would like to try this service. It is free and we enjoy bringing our materials to you. Call 519-925-2168

• TD Summer Reading: While this program is still a few months away (Kick off is July 5) we are already checking out the theme: Eureka and thinking about all the innovative reading, activities and experiments we can do. We will be hiring our summer student to help with the development of all the fun activities starting in May.
