Waiting patiently behind the scenes, summer student in the public works department for the Town of Shelburne, John Doney was on hand to help with the actual unveiling of theWilliam Jelly Statue. Though Doney was one person caught on film, the affair took the collaboration of town employees, volunteers and many others to make the wonderful day the success it was.

Beautifully etched with historical reference, the plaque which rests beside the base of the statue of Shelburne's Founding Father, William Jelly poignantly reflects Shelburne's Town Hall as the sun sets.

When Ontario's Lieutenant Governor, the Honorable David Onley addressed Shelburne residents during the unveiling of the William Jelly statue, the crowd went silent with his words of historical value and nostalgic reminding of just how great Shelburne is and how much it has grown since William Jelly imagined what Shelburne might become. Standing dutifully on guard behind Onley, retired Fire Marshall now Aide-de-Camp to the Lieutenant Governor, B.A. Gougeon.
