DAREarts reaches over 10,000 kids across Canada exposing them to worlds of all artistic mediums, opening their minds and helping kids to think differently and seize the moment where they realize they are awesome and they too can make a difference. “Schools choose the two kids from each class who come to our programs and we expose them to every art form, dance, painting, fashion, drama and it's exciting for the kids because they not only get to leave school for the day, they get to visit the places art lives, in art studios, dance studios, we go to the ROM and we always have special guests, someone the kids would never have had the chance to meet and that someone may become inspiring to them,” explained Founder and President of DAREarts, Marilyn Field, who actually wore a garment one of the kids who had been involved in DAREarts had designed. “ When we approach schools we say, send us your bullies, send us those bullied, and when we get them we ask them to be leaders and the most amazing thing happens. It's amazing to see that child become a responsible leader, concerned to set an example, it's transforming.” Addressing those who attended the Art Wear Fashion show, Field commented in gratitude, “ Fashion teaches kids, it really does. It's an expression. This day is very special. ” DAREarts classes run are across Canada from Toronto, the GTA all the way to Vancouver. Field's exuberance is second only to the incredible passion she experiences just talking about the changes the kids make in their lives. Field mentions that DARE stands for Discipline, Action , Responsibility and Excellence.
