Fraud Prevention presentation for public

RBC Shelburne is hosting a fraud prevention seminar for the community on Wednesday November 5th. All members of the community are invited to this free event.
Fraud crime is a growing concern, especially in today's day and age where fraud artists not only use traditional schemes through phone calls, mail and in person, but use the internet, social media and email to commit their crimes.
The purpose of this presentation is to inform the public on how they can help prevent becoming a victim of this type of crime. The various methods and types of fraud will be discussed including tips on prevention, where and when to report suspicious activity, what to do if you believe you are a victim of a fraud, and why seniors are often targeted. The presentation will be followed by a question period.
Speakers will include a lawyer from the Stutz, Brown and Self law firm, the Shelburne RBC bank manager Josie Green, RBC customer service representative Joclyn Colley, and Constable Paul Neumann from the Shelburne Police Service.
The Shelburne Police is taking part in this community event as part of Crime Prevention Week. The Ministry of Community Safety and Correctional Services has declared November 2nd to November 8th Crime Prevention Week across Ontario. Part of the purpose of Crime Prevention Week is to create and use community partners to help prevent and solve crime.
