If there is a really treacherous day or in the event that we need to close the library, please check our FACEBOOK as we will try and have the information there as soon as possible. Even last winter, we rarely closed the library so let's hope we don't need to close at all this year. That being said, I am pleased we had such a terrific response to our last (for the season) Library Literary Event with Hugh Brewster. We had a capacity crowd with approximately 60 folks in attendance. This was a special event to remember our veterans and their contributions to World peace. Comments from the attendees reinforced how powerful the message was and how well Hugh had researched the people and events and made them come alive. Silent Auction and Book Sale – Saturday, November 29th Our next major event will be our Silent Auction Fundraiser. A special cozy rag quilt, a handmade wooden chair that folds into a sturdy kitchen step stool – are items not to be missed. We also have some original paintings, special prints and so much more. There will be a not to be missed book sale as we have so many books here and after our Children`s Library is re-located down stairs, we won`t have much storage room. We just received an unbelievably beautiful selection of books that will be part of our book baskets. We also do custom baskets so if you have a thematic preference as a gift let us know and we will try to create one for you. One family ordered a super large one for their Christmas dinner and then used several strategies to let the individuals come up and choose a book… a special family question or a trivia question makes for a fun time. Children's Programs Friday, December 19th will be the last Children's Story time for this year. Renovations are continuing on our new Children's space and we are excited about all the new books, other materials and new technologies. There will be lots of surprises when we open that area in the New Year. Christmas Crafts: Saturday, December 13, at 11 a.m. Join us for a fun Christmas craft for children ages 5 and up. We will ask for a nominal cost recovery fee of $2.00 to ensure your child's place. New Books You will see when you come in that many of our new fall and winter books have arrived. Be sure to think about getting a large selection for over the Christmas holidays. Because we don't have room in this column for all the new books that are arriving daily, please check out the New Books section of our Website. The beauty of that is you can immediately put a hold on that special book by your favourite author!!! If you are not sure how to do that please come in and we will be happy to show you.
