Muskies give up loss to Durham

The Shelburne Senior AA Muskies came up short during their Saturday (Nov. 15) night home game against the Durham Thundercats at the Centre Dufferin Recreation Complex in Shelburne, when the visitors let loose with five unanswered goals in the third period.
After taking a 1–0 lead in the first period on a goal from Chris Greer, the Muskies couldn't find the back of the Thundercats net for the rest of the night.
Durham responded in the second period with two goals in the space of 18 seconds to squeeze out a one goal lead and make it a 2–1 game going into the final 20.
From there it was all down-hill for the Shelburne squad when Durham blew the game wide open scoring five times including two on powerplay efforts.
It was the first home game loss for the Muskies.
The Shelburne squad has performed well on home ice including the previous week when they pulled off a superb overtime win over Lucknow after tying the game with 30 seconds left on the clock and a man short.
That game ended with a ‘W' for the Muskies when the game went to a shoot-out to decide the winner.
Over all the Muskies have a ways to go to back into the game. They've had a tough season on the road and after nine games, they have a 3–6 record and have yet to win an away game.
At home, the Shelburne team has a very vocal fan base that fills the arena and all that noise seems to give the Muskies an extra boost on the ice.
The Muskies have two games this week.
On Friday, November 21, they will travel to Elora to up against the first place Rock with an 8:30 p.m. start.
They will return to home ice at the CDRC on Saturday, November 22, to host the Mapleton–Minto 81s.
The puck drop is scheduled for 8:00 p.m.
