This time: An Irish Country Doctor in Peace and War. There are definitely some sad scenes in here as it talks about Fingal Reilly's role in the war as a Doctor on a ship but there are other more heartwarming parts that run parallel and talk about his connection to home and family. As well, I am in the midst of reading Gone Girl, Gillian Flynn's much acclaimed novel. A movie has been made as well although, I have not seen that. The book is brilliantly written, with brittle language and complex characters and descriptions of their relationships and their lives. I will probably have some other thoughts when I finish it. Note the new books by Connelly, Cornwell, Robinson and McCall Smith. These will really be enjoyable for your holiday reading. Also Hazel McCallion is featured in a new non-fiction book.
