Remember the score? It was 5-0 for Georgian Shores. Well sometimes history repeats itself and sometimes it does not. Bernadette Pomeroy, GM for this well-oiled Tyke machine, explained that the outcome of this game was quite different because the Shelburne first year tykes stepped up their game and showed what they could do. The game consisted of back and forth action that kept the fans on the edge of their seats. In the end this game goes down in history as a 3–3 tie. Georgian Shores 2 at Shelburne: Dec 21 On Sunday, part 2 of the Georgian Shores showdown was played in Shelburne. Sticks were drawn, the puck was dropped and Shelburne stampeded like a herd of horses. Wyatt Galbraith could be seen in front, behind or anywhere near the net digging for the puck and firing it at the Georgian net. He ended up with an assist. Jackson Davis always seemed to find the puck, no matter where it was and sent a volley of shots at the net, with two hitting its mark. There was strong defense as well. Evan Hofstede was seen hustling back and stopping a breakaway. He then gained control of the puck and sent it back into Georgian's end. With plays like this, I'm sure the visitors left town feeling a little shell shocked. Shelburne wins decisively 7–0. Hats off: Shelburne at Georgian Shores 2: Jan 3 It was cold enough that you needed a hat, but there were many reasons to take your hats off at this game. You could tip your hat to players like Billy Dares, who stripped the puck from the Georgian players at both ends of the ice. There was a hat trick for Logan Leonardo, and hats off to Mason Osmond for his second shutout of the season. You could easily fill two sock hats with the number of goals scored. Shelburne wins 8–0. The comeback kids: Flesherton at Shelburne: Jan 4 How long could this winning streak last? Well, after the first period, with Flesherton scoring two unanswered goals, and Shelburne being plagued by off sides, it looked like it might be over. But like a bull that missed the red flag on its first pass, the Shelburne Tykes pulled up their socks, turned around and came charging back. Nathan Fintelman was active both on the ice and on the bench. On the ice he hammered the puck into the Flesherton zone to create scoring chances. On the bench, assistant coach Norman Burke was impressed by Nathan encouraging and complimenting his teammates. In the second period, Jackson Davis and Aiden Alonso tied up the game. Flesherton kept coming. The Shelburne defense rose to the challenge, for example Benjamin Wauchope hustling back to interrupt a Flesherton breakaway. Midway in the third period, with pretty much all the players strewn in front of the Flesherton goalie, Aryton Pomeroy launched a convincing wrist shot. The puck must have weaved under, over and around all those bodies, but eventually it ended up in the back of the net. Shelburne wins 3–2. The streak continues. --------------------------------------------------- Images: --------------------------------------------------- --------------------------------------------------- Post date: 2015-01-07 18:23:46 Post date GMT: 2015-01-07 23:23:46 Post modified date: 2015-01-14 13:41:19 Post modified date GMT: 2015-01-14 18:41:19 ____________________________________________________________________________________________ Export of Post and Page as text file has been powered by [ Universal Post Manager ] plugin from www.gconverters.com
