Board of Health elects new chair

At the January 7th inaugural meeting of the new Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph Board of Health the first order of business was to elect a new Chair. Doug Auld was unanimously elected and will replace outgoing Chair Amanda Rayburn-Fines.
Doug Auld is an adjunct professor in the Economics and Finance Department at the University of Guelph. He has served on the Board of Health for eight years and was Vice-Chair for four years.
As Vice Chair, he served beside Amanda Rayburn-Fines who was Chair for four years and a Board member for the past 10 years.
The Board also elected Nancy Sullivan, a retired Vice President from the University of Guelph, as the new Vice Chair. Keith Perron, a provincial appointee representing the City of Guelph, was re-elected Secretary-Treasurer.
“I am excited to start a new year with this Board of Health with so many new members,” said Dr. Nicola Mercer, Medical Officer of Health and CEO of Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph Public Health. “Amanda will be missed as she has given the Board great leadership through many years of growth and change. But I am confident that Doug will move Public Health's many priorities forward by bringing his considerable experience and skills to the role of Chair.”
Closer to home, Laura Ryan, Councillor, Town of Mono, was also elected to the board.
The Board of Health is made up of representatives from each of the municipalities served by Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph Public Health.
