Wolves Midget ready for OMHA semi–finalsThe Shelburne Wolves Midget rep team is gearing up for a run at the OMHA championship as they move into the semi-final round of the playoffs. After winning their preliminary round over Mariposa, the squad went up against Norwood in the quarter-finals and won in three straight in the best of five series. The Wolves will now face South Bruce in the semi-final round. The Wolves ended the regular season in third place and having been getting better as the year goes on. Head coach Mike Glassford has full confidence in his squad and said he believes they are currently the strongest they've been all year. “Our goaltending is strong, our defence is strong,” Glassford said. “We allowed three goals in our first series. Our guys are scoring goals very frequently.” Moving into the semi-final round, Glassford said there are no plans to change anything in the line-up or the way the team has been playing. “If the kids want to play the way they've been playing, they're in for a long run. They're playing disciplined, they're playing physical, they're playing the way they wanted to play all year – the way we've been trying to get them to play all year and now they're finally doing it and it's paying off.” The Wolves are also involved in their local league playdowns in a round-robin style tournament. Their opponents in the semi-final of the OMHA series, won their first round series over Bruce Peninsula before knocking out Blyth-Brussels in the quarter-final round. By Brian Lockhart |
