Scotiabank matches funds for Evening of Entertainment Patrick Clark and Kat Cullen return to Grace Tipling Hall on May 2nd to emcee another great Evening of Entertainment in support of the Dufferin Arts Council's Scholarship Fund. Last spring the event presented outstanding entertainment for a packed crowd and raised over 2000 thousand dollars for the fund. An Evening of Entertainment is sponsored by Daniel Clark, a past scholarship winner and now Luthier and owner of Cithara Guitars in Mansfield. This year, both branches of the Scotiabank in Orangeville have promised to support the event by selling tickets and match funds raised through their ticket sales, with donations to the Scholarship Fund. Entertainers for the evening are all past recipients of scholarships from the Dufferin Arts Council (DAC) and as such, are taking the opportunity, under the inspiration of Daniel Clark, to give back to the fund that helped to set them on their artistic paths. Clark says, “Being a three time recipient of a scholarship from the Council, I sincerely appreciate the support that the Council has given me over the years and I am privileged and honoured to sponsor the event, to raise both awareness and funds for the Dufferin Arts Council Scholarship Fund.” The Dufferin Arts Council has distributed 109 cash scholarships and bursaries since it's founding in 1996, totalling over $95,000. The Endowment Fund supports students pursuing studies and careers in the arts, whether it is visual, literary, dance, music, film, design, theatre, or arts education. The 2014 inaugural event was filled with a diverse line up of talent from across the arts spectrum that included modern dance, tap, and step dancing, opera, Broadway, and guitar solos, a literary reading, handmade guitars, landscape paintings and interactive game designs. Highlights of the evening included solo performances by Daniel and Patrick Clark, both accomplished musicians. Patty Clark, coordinator for the event said that once again this year, “We have a great line up of very talented individuals who are volunteering their time to support the event – singers, dancers, musicians, and many visual artists. There is something for everyone.” Many of the young performers are now professionals in their chosen field; others are still students of their craft. Included in the evening along with Daniel Clark and Patrick James Clark will be Meghan Van der Giessen, Mikayla Barney, Andrew Cleveland, Katie Dopp-Bryan, Elisabeth DuBois, Kaitlyn Gallant, Coulter Baker, Aaron Bosnjak, Katie Bryan, Eden Cameron, and Lynda Clare Grant. Artists will also show and sell their art and CD's at the event with a portion of the proceeds to be donated to the Scholarship Fund. An Evening of Entertainment takes place on Saturday May 2, from 7–10 p.m. at Grace Tipling Hall in Shelburne. Tickets are $10/person, with all proceeds to the DAC Scholarship Fund, and are available for purchase at Shelburne Town Hall, Scotiabank in Orangeville (Riddell Branch & First St. Branch) and Cithara Guitars in Mansfield 519 806-8888.
