Red Hats unite for ‘HATS! The Musical’HATS! The Musical is now playing at the South Simcoe Theatre in Cookstown – and Red Hat Society members couldn't be more excited. HATS! is a musical based on a women's experience turning 50 – which also happens to be the age when a women trades in her pink hat, for her red hat in the Red Hat Society. In the play, ‘Maryanne', played by Jenn Burns, is turning 50, and her mother, ‘Lady', played by Betty Kelly – along with an assorted cast of fifty something characters – encourages her to look on the bright side of life. She may be turning 50, but it's not the end of the world, after all, the gift of a new red hat (the colour of eccentricity) is all that's missing from her already fabulous life. In Shelburne, Red Hat Society members are chomping at the bit to get to the show – which concludes on April 26th. “I'm inviting all Red Hatters – who aren't already planning to attend on the 26th – to join us in Cookstown for the grand finale of this long-running play,” said Pazazz owner, Brenda Marshall. Pazazz sells everything one might need to become a Red Hatter, who wear purple with red hats and jeweled accents. Marshall's store is located at 122 Owen Sound Street, and carries the largest collection of Red Hat apparel (dare we say) in the world! A long-time member of the Red Hat Society, in the ‘L.U.S.H.' or Ladies Under Spectacular Hats chapter, Marshall can provide perspective Red Hatters with all the information they need to become fabulous at 50, and then outfit them from head-to-toe!
