Conflict resolution workshop to be held in Shelburne

Do you need help learning how to deescalate an argument before it gets out of hand?
Most of us do.
Whether it's your neighbour, your teenage children (or children of any age, for that matter), a caregiver, your spouse, or a person you love with dementia, developing skills and strategies to deal with conflict can benefit everyone.
The Shelburne and Area Chaplaincy Network (SACN), in association with the Canadian Mental Health Association of Waterloo, Wellington, Dufferin, are hosting a ‘Conflict Deescalation Workshop' on Monday, May 11th at the Mel Lloyd Centre Auditorium. The free event takes place from 2–4 p.m. and everyone welcome.
Over the past 25 years, the Chaplaincy Network has hosted several mental health seminars – with issues ranging from elder abuse, to listening, and even suicide.
“We try and identify the needs in our community and gear our seminars around those topics,” Alice Porter, SACN representative, told the Free Press.
The May 11th workshop begins with presentation from an educator with CMHA, followed by Q&A and small group working sessions.
“We are trying to assist people who are looking for help,” said Porter, on why SACN is involved. “We can help people learn to deal with their individual situations and get the support they need and deserve.”
