Summer Programs
We have had great response to our ads for Summer Student Assistants and once the interviews and hiring process is complete, we look forward to the development and implementation of some exciting programs and activities. One student will be involved with the TD Summer Reading Program and activities for children. The other student will be working with our Teens and Tweens.

This Thursday, we will be working on button bracelets. We have lots of lovely buttons, donated by patrons; and I picked up some great silver and gold metallic elastic. Bring your imagination, your creativity and let's have fun! We are inviting any adults who wish to participate as well… These bracelets are great fashion accessories and they also make a lovely gift for mom for Mother's Day.
One Book, One County Grand Finale – last Sunday, May 3, 2015
Charlotte Gray, author of The Massey Murder, literally enthralled the audience at Grace Tipling Hall. Her stories about the Massey Family, the young woman accused of the murder of Bert Massey and vignettes of history outlining the events of World War I that occurred at the same time held everyone`s attention.. With her superb skills at research and her connections to real people throughout, she made this little known drama into an incredible story. Although it has been said before, she truly did make “history come alive.” The engagement of the audience was obvious through the thought provoking and thoughtful questions that were asked. Her responses and insight drew us even further into the story and in particular, the life and the politics of that time period.
One other facet of this afternoon that made the event so outstanding was the sense of community; so many patrons, members of book clubs and readers throughout the community came out to hear the author and as well, to support their libraries and BookLore who had been instrumental in choosing the book and planning the event.
Well done! Shelburne, Grand Valley, Orangeville Libraries and BookLore.
Library Literary Event: June 28th at 2 p.m. – British Home Children in Canada
Mark the date: Author, Lori Oschefski will be talking about her research and her new book, Bleating of the Lambs to be released June 13, 2015. She will be joined by local resident, Dallas Boudreau, in this presentation. I know this is a topic of great interest and look forward to seeing you all there. Later on in May, we will have tickets available. These are free, but it helps with our planning to know how many folks are coming.
New Books: Our new books are starting to arrive so watch our website to check when they are catalogued and available for holds.
