The moms of Shelburne Foodland

Mother's Day will take place this Sunday, May 10th and Shelburne Foodland couldn't be more pleased to employ some of the best moms in town! Being a working mom isn't always easy, but Foodland helps moms out by keeping them working locally and home more often with their kids. These Foodland moms, pictured from left, Barbara Hewlett, Shani Rogers, Cassandra Campos, Sue Kelly, Melanie Wright and Debbie McKechnie, took a moment on Wednesday afternoon to stop and smell the roses – literally – in the Shelburne Foodland garden centre, which is bursting with colourful blooms. According to Wikipedia: Mothers are women who inhabit or perform the role of bearing some relation to their children, who may or may not be their biological offspring. Thus, dependent on the context, women can be considered mothers by virtue of having given birth or by raising their child(ren). Women who are pregnant may be referred to as expectant mothers or mothers-to-be. Mother's Day is a modern celebration honoring one's own mother, as well as motherhood, maternal bonds, and the influence of mothers in society. It is celebrated on various days in many parts of the world, most commonly in the months of March or May. It complements similar celebrations honoring family members, such as Father's Day and Siblings Day. The celebration of Mother's Day began in the United States in the early 20th century; it is not related to the many celebrations of mothers and motherhood that have occurred throughout the world over thousands of years, such as the Greek cult to Cybele, the Roman festival of Hilaria, or the Christian Mothering Sunday celebration (originally a celebration of the mother church, not motherhood).
