SUMMER PROGRAMS – TD Summer Reading Program
We have hired two students for our summer programs and are excited about the creativity and enthusiasm we are seeing in these young people. One student will be involved with the TD Summer Reading Program and activities for children. The other student will be working with our Teens and Tweens. Because of their experience and training, we are also looking at options such as incorporating French into our summer reading program and there is a strong possibility that we will be offering ESL classes. This is exciting for us as we try to expand our programs to meet all our patrons' needs.
Teen Scene:
Last Thursday, the teens and some adults were working on button bracelets. They turned out beautifully and I know a number of moms will be wearing them proudly in colours that coordinate with their summer clothes. You can see examples on our Facebook and web site later this week. Tomorrow night, we will be making catch all bowls with buttons and some jazzy alphabet button letters. Very cool accessories for the teen bedroom. Everyone is welcome. Bring your imagination, your creativity and let's have fun! We are inviting any adults who wish to participate as well.
Library Literary Event: June 28th at 2 p.m. – British Home Children in Canada
Mark the date: Author, Lori Oschefski will be talking about her research and her new book, Bleating of the Lambs to be released June 13, 2015. She will be joined by local resident, Dallas Boudreau, in this presentation. I know this is a topic of great interest and look forward to seeing you all there. Later on in May, we will have tickets available. These are free, but it helps with our planning to know how many folks are coming.
New Books: Our new books are starting to arrive so watch our website to check when they are catalogued and available for holds. We received quite a few new children's books so do go on our website and check out, What's New!
Community organizations:
Many community organization use our rooms on a rental or donation basis: The Snow Mobile Club, The Soccer Club, Crossroads Church, Yoga, Bruce Trail Association, and the Spanish Class to name a few. The Tipling Stage Company also uses our facility for rehearsals and this month in partnership with them, we will be holding a draw for free tickets for the upcoming production, The Hobbit. We have 2 sets of 2 tickets and starting next Tuesday we will put the names of everyone who signs out books into a ``hat`` and come up with some winners. So that is a double win, getting books from the library and some tickets to a wonderful production.
