Sideroad surprises

Once again me and my honey went exploring the back roads of Dufferin County finding interesting places to stop and take in the sights, which is turning into a favourite weekend pastime these days.
Without any particular destination in mind we headed out on Sunday afternoon for what I'm starting to think of as our weekly treasure hunt. Winding our way down one of the many side roads in the area we came across some unmaintained roads. Since we like to navigate and explore we didn't even hesitate to carry on. With a Timmy's in hand we started down the winding roads that are marked for sledding trails in the winter without any other vehicles in sight.
The recent rainfall made the unknown dirt roads a little slippery but that only made us more excited to explore. We threw the truck into four wheel drive and continued on. The spring growth from the trees covered over the top of the passages that we travelled at a snails pace so as to not miss a single thing. The vast variety of trees and ground cover made us feel like we truly were in the middle of nowhere when in actual fact we were only minutes from our home in Shelburne.
With the roads being unmaintained I wouldn't recommend taking a car down as the terrain is really only good for those with vehicles that sit high off the ground and also that have four wheel drive. The roads were extremely uneven with large rocks that we had to navigate around. That being said it was the also a heck of a lot of fun!
From the tree covered passages with hints of the sun peaking through, to the long views of the hills of the escapement that were spectacular. From the farmers fields that were just starting to grow to the many birds and the three white tailed deer we saw on our adventure this day turned out to be one like no other.
Such interesting and unique places that make extraordinary backdrops for photos and the kinds of things that make you go hmmmm...I love creating these memories and finding all the sideroad surprises Dufferin County has to offer.
See you out there on those great little country side roads, my friends!
